Junior Accountant – Brea, CA (Full-Time, Onsite)

Position Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Junior Accountant to join our accounting team in Brea, California. This role will focus primarily on Accounts Payable and PO cost tracking, while also supporting broader accounting functions as we work to streamline our systems and processes. The ideal candidate is a motivated professional with a strong accounting foundation, comfortable working in a manual, ERP‑light environment, and interested in growing into a Staff Accountant role.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process full‑cycle Accounts Payable including invoice coding, data entry, 3‑way matching, and vendor communication
- Run and maintain reports such as Open POs and Received Not Invoiced to support cost accruals
- Assist in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger schedules
- Reconcile bank statements and corporate credit card transactions
- Maintain and reconcile prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed asset schedules
- Support month‑end close processes and documentation
- Help prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal reviews and external audits
- Respond to internal and vendor inquiries regarding POs, payments, and account coding
- Cross‑train in Accounts Receivable and collections to provide backup during absences
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Receiving, and Operations to resolve PO/invoice issues
- Assist with employee expense reports and reimbursements
- Contribute to process improvement projects and documentation of accounting procedures
- Support year‑end 1099 processing and W‑9 compliance tracking
- Participate in ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred (internship or AP experience a plus)
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables); ERP experience preferred (Sage 100 ideal)
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and follow‑through
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Interest in growing into a Staff Accountant or more advanced role over time
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $30 – $35 per hour (based on experience, education, certifications, and specialized skills)
